He was a leader of the National Basketball Association for seven successive years. In 1986, the Detroit Pistons noticed him and drafted him in the second round. In 1989, Rodman was recognized and named the Defensive Player of the year due to his good skill in basketball. He helped the Pistons defeat the young Chicago Bulls for the second time making them NBA champions. In 1990, the Pistons defeated the Bulls winning the second straight championship. In 1991, the Bulls in the Eastern Conference finals swept the Pistons. The Pistons rebound Dennis Rodman and got on the lead. However, Rodman raised his level of playing and in 1992; he was extraordinary, with an average of over 18 rebounds, as he became a winner of the first of seven direct rebounding titles. In San Antonio, Rodman continued with his expertise and made many more great scores. The following season, he spearheaded 62 wins for San Antonio making it to the western conference finals. However, his publicized relationship with Madonna was too much for the Spurs to bear. In the offseason, he joined the Bulls. With Rodman aboard, the Bulls improved on 25 games. The team also had Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan and the three formed an all-defensive first team.
After the season with the Bulls, he left Chicago and started rebuilding himself. Being the best NBA rebounder, without doubt he made a name for himself. According to Dennis Rodman Biography/History, he could not have lasted as long just because of a criminal record and tattoos. Although he does not view himself as a basketball icon or a role model, he gains from the benefits of the basketball experience.

The Liacouras Center is the location of all home games for both men’s and women’s basketball games. In February, 2000, the center was renamed in honor of former temple President Peter J. Liacouras. Bob Dylan has played a sold out concert at The Licouras Center. There was also an NBA Players Party held in The Licouras Center before the 2002 NBA All-Star game. The complex was originally named The Forum at The Apollo of Temple but the Board of Trustees voted to change the building name after Liacouras had served 18 years as the chief executive of Temple before retiring.
Unlike any other facility, The Liacouras Center costs $107 million. $31.8 million was provided by Pennsylvania legislature with the provision that the University could come up with $28.7 from private sources. The Owls will play four of the remaining games at home in their center this season and have played a good number of the games already gone by at the center. With only 1 loss at home, The Licouras Center seems to be where the Owls hit the floor and showcase their talents for both the fans and the opponents alike.

Bob McAdoo, A Hall of Famer
Basketball is becoming one of the favorite sports of people all throughout the globe. Unlike other sports, basketball is relatively easy to understand. The popularity of the sport led to the formation of the Basketball Hall of Fame. The honor is given to those who have made exceptional contribution to the sport.
One significant character who has been given such honor is Robert Allen McAdoo. His induction in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame happened in 2000.
Before he joined the NBA, McAdoo attended Vincennes Junior College and the University of North Carolina. He already played for the two schools back then. McAdoo led the Tar Heels in the National semifinals. However, they lost to the Florida State.
He qualified for the 1972 NBA draft. He started his career in the National Basketball Association in 1972 when the Buffalo Braves drafted him. He stayed with the team, now the Los Angeles Clippers, for five years until 1977. When he joined the league, he made his presence known by winning the Rookie of the Year award in 1973. He also won the Most Valuable Player award in 1975. He made the NBA All-Star five consecutive times from 1974 to 1978.
During his first few years, he became one of the best big men shooters in the league. In his second season in the NBA, he bagged three shooting titles. In the mid seventies, many basketball enthusiasts would name him as the fastest big man who ever played in the NBA.
However, there were also some down moments in his career. He was injured several times and fans and experts felt that he had only given a mediocre performance.
Many thought that his time has ended in the mid seventies. Many blame this to the other teams he joined. Most of the teams that welcomed him were not among the dominant teams at that time. He played for the New York Knicks after leaving the Braves in 1977. He played for the Boston Celtics in 1979. After that, he played for the Detroit Pistons and New Jersey Nets in 1980 and 1981 respectively.
However, it was not until he joined the LA Lakers that he tasted what it felt like to win NBA titles. He played for the Lakers from 1981 to 1985. Together with other great players, the team earned two NBA titles, one in 1982 and the other in 1985.
After great seasons with the Lakers, he joined the Philadelphia 76ers and played there for a year. From his first team, the Los Angeles Clippers, McAdoo played his last NBA season with the 76ers. However, he did not stop playing basketball.
He played for some European teams after the NBA. In 1990, he played for Olimpia Milano. He led the team in two European Championships. He retired after playing for Teamsystem Fabriano in 1993.
Although there were some point in his career where he felt defeated, McAdoo was able to prove his greatness over and over again. This and more, made him worthy to be part of the Basketball Hall of Fame.
San Antonio Spurs, A Story of Victory Since 1999
The American Basketball Association is a professional basketball league in the United States in the late 1960s. It joined the National Basketball League in 1976. The league brought four teams in the NBA. They were the Denver Nuggets, New Jersey Nets, Indianan Pacers, and the San Antonio Spurs.
Among the four teams, the Spurs turned out to be the most dominant. Ever since the mergence, they have won fifteen Division titles, four conference titles, and four championship titles. Since their championship crown in 1999, the Spurs have shown tremendous success in the basketball arena. Their winning percentage is among the highest of any team in any sport of any major league in the US.
They have made loyal fans in San Antonio, which became their home since 1973. The attendance during their home games are among the largest. In 1999, the fans poured out their support as they set an attendance record of 39,554.
Before their glorious years in 1999, the Spurs went through difficulties. Their coach changed almost every year. They even had their worst record in franchise history in the 1996-97 season. David Robinson stepped up for the team in several years. He earned the Most Valuable Player award in 1995. However, his team was not able to bring home the championship banner.
They had the chance to make the top pick in the 1997 draft. They used it well and chose the Tim Duncan. Like Robinson, he was also a Naismith College Player of the Year in 1997. When he joined the San Antonio Spurs, he and Robinson gave birth to the Twin Towers. They also began the glorious seasons for the team.
NBA felt the presence of Duncan almost immediately. He won the Rookie of the Year award in 1997-98 season. In 1999, the team won its very first National championship title and Duncan became the NBA finals Most Valuable Player.
The year 1999 is a very memorable year for the franchise. The Spurs became the first former ABA team to appear in the finals, and the first to win the coveted NBA title. The year 2003 marked another memorable year. David Robinson was due to retire after the season. It was also the first year that they will be playing at their new home court, the AT&T center. They completed the celebration, by winning their second NBA title.
Their second NBA title was a team effort of the twin towers and the new rising stars of the team. The new key players include Tony Parker and Manu Ginobli. They earned their third NBA title in 2005 and once again, Tim Duncan brought home the NBA finals MVP.
Their Cinderella story took place in 2007. They started out strong but were not able to stay consistent. Their team standing gradually slide and almost all the players were frustrated. However, this turned around after Coach Gregg Popovic decided to keep the team intact even if he had the option to make a trade. They went on to win the 2007 NBA title and Tony Parker won his very first NBA finals MVP award.
Miami Heat Tickets
Miami Heat Basketball team: a professional basketball team is among the seven teams in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Heat plays in American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida, and wears jerseys of red, gold, and white. The history of Miami Heats starts back in 1988, when the Miami Heat was just an expansion team and did not make their mark until long until the team’s fortunes changed during the mid 1990’s.
With addition of talented players like center Alonzo Mourning and point guard Tim Hardaway to the team, Miami Heat made a strong come back in the NBA standings. With a supporting cast of Jamal Mashburn, Voshon Lenard, and P.J. Brown, the Heat rose to the Eastern Conference Finals in 1997.
The Miami Heat got hold of Shaquille O’Neal for Odom, Brian Grant and Caron Butler via trade with the Los Angeles Lakers and the refurbished team made it to the Eastern Conference Finals, where they lost in seven games to the Detroit Pistons.
NBA Miami Heats, over time have developed in to one of the strongest teams on the NBA circuit. With astounding players associated with the stunning team, Miami Heat is among the top-ranked teams in NBA. The Heat made their debut on November 5th losing to the Los Angeles Clippers 111-91 at the Miami Arena and the fans had to wait a while for The Miami Heats first win as they got off to a terrible start, losing a NBA record 17 games in their inaugural season. At last, The Heat got their first win beating the Clippers in LA 89-88 in a nail-biting match. NBA basketball Miami Heat got their first home win 5 games later, when they beat the Utah Jazz 101-80. Joy and celebrations rocked the streets of Miami as the home team, at last, produced something that the fans can be proud of. The fire kept burning in the Heat as it showed improvement despite finishing in last place with a 24-58 record in the next season.
The succeeding year proved very successful for The Heats under new Miami Heat Coach Kevin Loughery as the Heat got their first taste of achievement into the playoffs on the final day of the season by finishing in 4th place with a 38-44 record. The 1993/94 season was led by the scoring of Glen Rice, the shooting of Steve Smith, and the rebounding of Ronny Seikaly that made Heat to improve its position, in their first ever winning season. The 1995/96 season was the year of restructuring of the Heat as they acquired Alonzo Mourning, Pete Myers, and LeRon Ellis from the Charlotte Hornets on the day before the start of the season. However luck was not on their side as they struggled for a long time to get back on track.
The Heat cruised to their second straight Atlantic Division title with a solid 55-27 record in 1997/98 season. The Heat began the new Millennium with a new arena and a new style. In the first game at America Airlines Arena, The Heat started off with a 111-103 win over the Orlando Magic. In their new home, The Heat continued to play strong defensive basketball as Alonzo Mourning won his second straight Defensive Player of the Year award leading the Heat to a 4th straight division title with a solid 52-30 record. In the following injury-hit season, NBA Miami Heat persistently played strong basketball, posting a 42-27 record, and Heat went on to finish in 2nd place with a solid 50-32 record. 2002/03 season was a dreadful year as the Heat finished at last place with an awful record of 25-57. The recent 2004-05 seasons marked a season of reunion for the HEAT, as four former Miami Heat players and coaches rejoined the team for a push for an NBA championship. Ron Rothstein rejoined Miami in September as an assistant coach.
The Miami Heat Basketball team is an excellent blend of old players with fresh talent. A team which comes up to expectations of its million of fans that follow Basketball keenly. With passage of time, the team has improved tremendously and now it has a strong placement in NBA Circuit.
